This is a simple, well patinated pounding stick, from the Dan tribe of the Ivory Coast, West Africa.  Made to pound grains in a large wooden mortar.  The patina is an exquisite!.  Very old, with a French finish on the shaft.  It is soft and smooth to the touch, with a lustrous sheen. Made from a heavy and dense African hardwood with an excellent weight and russet colour.  In good condition, with wear and weathering, particularly at the ends. We guarantee this item has been tribally used.   Height approx 70cm
