AN EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE PRESTIGE PECTEN SHELL BAULE TRIBE IVORY COAST ( No 5051)

This is a very large sized pecten shell with unique pattern from the Baule tribe of the Ivory Coast west Africa.  They were traded for gold in the 19thC.  As prestige items they were often attached to belts, necklaces and gun powder bags.  In good condition.  We guarantee this item has been tribally used . Height approx 9cm
