This is an exquisitely embossed leather shield from Ethiopia, East Africa. EX UK collection. Made from a rare and lovely light tan coloured leather. The texture is detailed with fine embossed details reminiscent of weaving. This is a fine and old example, at least 19thC. The handle shows age to the leather and stitching. The patina is well developed in every way, with a symmetrical solid form. Feels good in the hand. In good condition with wear. We guarantee this item has been tribally used. Width approx 55 cm.
