A 16THC AKAN GOLD MEASURING WEIGHT EX COPPER DOT (No 2954 )

  This is a beautifully patinated, rare copper dot
16thC gold measuring weight from the Akan region of west Africa. The form is cosmological, with a deeply crenellated edge and a recess for the dot at the central axis. The copper has dropped out over time.
The patina of the metal has darkened and smoothed with age with some vert de Gris. In good condition. We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. In good width approx 3cm
