£370

This is an exceptional figural granary door from the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa.  Used as a shutter- a door to the granary window.  These are rare to find these days, and this quality makes it rarer.  It depicts two breasts in relief, highlighting the fact that the granary is the most important structure in a Dogon village because it feeds everyone.  There are fine zig zag engravings throughout. The dry patina is a highlight.   In good condition.  We guarantee that this item has been tribally used.  Measuring approx Height 70 by 50 cm width.
