A BUTTERCUP YELLOW TOPENG MASK FROM JAVA ( No 2451)

This is a really adorable buttercup yellow theatre mask from Java, Indonesia.  It heralds from traditional Topeng dance theatre.   The forehead features crown like decoration which refers to a noble or royal character.  Features a bold polychrome used, patina which has darkened with age and use.  In good collectable condition with wear. Does not stand unassisted.  We guarantee this item has been indigenously used. Height of mask approx 22cm
