AN INTRIGUING MAGIC KITAB TALSMANIC NECKLACE FROM ETHIOPIA ( No 4625 )

This is a really striking, multi layered leather talismanic necklace from ethiopia, East Africa.  Each talisman is a kitab, made of hand processed and dyed leather, with leather vellum scrolls inside.  On those scrolls is a mixture of Christian prayers and 4thc Hellenistic magic.    Born as a protective prescription from an Ethiopian elder, intended to protect a new born.  Has an antique, used patina, obviously darkened  and softened with age.  In good condition with some wear.  Height approx 50cm
