This is an incredible cockerel nature spirit from the Fon tribe of Benin . Would have been placed on a personal altar with ancestor figures and other symbols of tribal life. Has paraphrased geometric form, with prominent headrest and raised tail feathers: Has some wear to beak and leg. We have since mounted this bird so it stands right unassisted.
