A PLANETARY 17THC AKAN GOLD MEASURING WEIGHT ( No 2352)

This is a well patinated, 17thC gold measuring weight from the Akan region of west Africa. The form is cosmological, with a deeply crenellated edge and a large hole at the centre.  A few of the crenellations have been deducted for weighing purposes. 
The patina of the metal has become oxidised with vert de Gris.. In good condition. Mounted on a metal stand.  We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. In good width approx 4cm
