AN ORANGE PECTEN SHELL NECKLACE, BAULE TRIBE IVORY COAST ( No 2911 )

This is a glorious eye catching prestige necklace  from the Baule tribe of the Ivory Coast, West Africa.  Consists of many many coral coloured shells.  They were traded for gold in the 19thc, from the Cape Verde islands.  They have been drilled on the top and bottom to attach to Baule prestige items.  In good condition with wear.  Height 40cm approx
