A POWERFUL WHITE PIGMENT MASK LEGA TRIBE, CONGO ( No 4245 )

This is a powerful “idimu” mask from the Lega people Congo . Encrusted with kaolin pigment which is believed to be a magical substance that summons the wisdom of the ancestors. Would have hung on racks outside their initiation huts, rather than being worn on the face.  It is in good condition with wear and weathering.  We guarantee this item has been tribally used.  Stand not included.  Height approx 25cm
