A LARGE TURTLE BRASS PENDANT, BAULE TRIBE IVORY COAST( No 2886 )

This is a large vintage pendant , from the Baule people of the Ivory Coast, West Africa. Depicts a turtle.  Made of brass, in the tradition of wearing gold jewellery, for prestige. Such fine details throughout. In good condition with wear.  There is a small hole at the snout.  Wear commensurate with tribal use. Some very de gris in places.  We guarantee that this item has been tribally used.  height 12cm approx
